Interview:
General Responsibilities:
My general responsibilities is in sales and marketing. My primary goal is to bring in revenue for each camp along with trying to increase the attendance of each camp from previous years. It is important in my field to build a strong database of contacts such as different Youth Leagues and Coaches in the area of where a camps location might be. It is also important to have many different media contacts. This is important because social media is everywhere in today’s society so if we get our contacts to post an excerpt about the athlete and our camps then that’s another way of us being able to bring kids to the camps and revenue to our business.
Likes:
One of the most unique things that I like about working at ProCamps is the young atmosphere. Most of the people who work here range in age from around 22-35, which you do not normally tend to see in this day in age. So the atmosphere around the work place is very laid back, but everyone still does their job and work very hard. Everyone here in the camper sales department at ProCamps we all are in charge of multiple different camps so its nice being able to be the main person in charge of the camps and knowing that you make most of the decisions that go into setting up the camp.
Dislikes:
I do not really have any dislikes, but if i had to choose something it would be that the summers are very busy which makes time management very difficult. Since the summers are extremely busy for us, in the Winter we tend to not be as busy which is a downfall because for me I would much rather be busy doing something than being bored.
Hours/Attire:
The hours vary depending on what season we are in. For the Summer I normally work around 55-60 h. There were some nights where we would work later than when we would normally get off at 5 in order to make sure everything was together, especially if camp was going on during that week. When camps are going on we have to be available at all times and have to be in constant communication with the camps due to any variable that may come up, especially weather. During our off-season we work around 40-45 hours a week.
Pay/Benefits/Perks:
Our pay is salary plus commission, so the more work you put in usually means the more money you will make. Working here comes with full benefits which include health and dental. Some of the different things that we have go on for Friday mornings is employee basketball and we even have flag football throughout the year as well.
Education:
I graduated from Xavier University with a degree in Sports Management and Business. While at Xavier I was apart of our club hockey team. One of the most important things that I was able to take away from my time at college is time management. When something hits my desk I tend not to blow it off and wait for a few days, I like to get it out of the way the very second someone asks me to do something.
Related Experiences:
After college I had a few jobs which included being a ticket sales rep for the Cincinnati Bengals where I would try to make 70-100 phone calls a day. One of my main goals while working with the Bengals was to increase revenue along with increasing the retention rate of season ticket holders. I also worked with the Flying Pig Marathon as a Volunteer Coordinator where I had to manage and organize over 75 groups of volunteers needed for the race weekend. I was also an intern at Procamps where I secured athletic trainers, equipment, and camper registrations. One of the most important things that I figured out was EXPERIENCE is one of the most important things when trying to secure a job. In the beginning I didn't know what I wanted to do so I wanted to get as much experience as possible with many different jobs so that I could figure out exactly what it was I wanted to do for a career.

Tips for Students Aspiring Towards Similar Positions:
Linked-in played a huge role in my trying to find a job. I went onto the website and created my own account and began searching and emailing different owners of companies not trying to ask for jobs, but for information on what exactly it is that they do for their job. You have to be willing to put in the work in order to find a job as well as the possibility of you having to travel. One huge tip I would recommend is to be sure to build positive relationships because it is all about who you know.
